JT Ross Property Group welcomed the UKZN Alumni Association at The Lion Match Office Park for a tour of the property on Thursday 20th April 2017.

In 2013, redevelopment of the property commenced from mixed use to commercial. The tour was given by Development Director, Grant Smith of JT Ross and the architect behind much of the redevelopment, Dean Jay of Dean Jay Architects.

The history of the property is quite remarkable, with the British Royal Family having visited it in the 1900’s. The site was an embarkation point for the railway line. The Old Lion Match Factory itself is now Jonsson’s office space and the Stadium Building which is home to several office tenants was once a dormitory. Lion Match Office Park won the SAPOA Excellence Award for heritage, redevelopment and overall winner of a commercial development in 2016.
Robin Ralfe, Chairman of the UKZN Alumni Association commented, “What has been achieved has been quite magnificent and beautifully in harmony with the surrounds.”
