Smiling children and happy staff; the result of a drive initiated by Rossmin and JT Ross throughout the Oshabeni community of Port Shepstone, along the South Coast of KwaZulu Natal, on 29th November 2016, to improve the lives of community members in line with the Rossmin Social and Labour Plan strategy to focus on education.
With the assistance of the Domino Foundation and members of the Oshabeni Community, a number of Rossmin and JT Ross staff visited five Creches in Oshabeni to deliver bags of stationery, toys, games and learning tools to schools.
The creches included Siyanqoba, Vusushaba, Siyathandaza, St Anthony and Dinaledi and aside from items to assist with learning, cakes were the delight of the day. Maris Stella was visited later in the week where stationery and other items were given to the learners for their upcoming school year.
It was a privilege for those who attended and assisted, to meet the children, hear the singing and feel the joy which was quite apparent.
Rossmin is an open cast mining operation, introduced to the district many years ago and is committed and dedicated to improving conditions for the Oshabeni community.
