Hillcrest Private Hospital

Hillcrest Private Hospital opened its doors in July 2011 and has quickly established itself as a quality and award winning facility which forms a vital part of the Upper Highway community, with a growing reputation for a high standard of patient care, above and beyond the up-market decor and added extras.  The 200-bed hospital is now expanding its healthcare offering with additional doctors’ suites, an oncology centre and rehabilitation facility currently being built, says Glen Passmore, Director Hillcrest Private Hospital.

Hillcrest Private Hospital had the vision to be the hospital of choice for specialists, staff and patients alike, and since inception, we have done whatever we can to surround ourselves with people performing at the leading edge of their fields to ensure the best possible outcomes,” says Hospital Manager Annette Olls.  “We expect every member of the team to be fully committed to ensuring the best experience for our patients.”

Hillcrest Private Hospital has been recognised as the leading private hospital in KwaZulu-Natal, and was recently awarded the PMR Diamond Arrow Award by PMR.africa.  The hospital also won the award for the cleanest large hospital in South Africa, thus entrenching its dedication to service excellence.

Soon to follow Hillcrest Private Hospital’s lead is Gateway Private Hospital.  This world-class facility is set to open in Umhlanga in mid-2014, providing specialty surgical needs.  Gateway Private Hospital will be the first specialty hospital in KZN, and the owners have made a significant capital investment into this 160-bed facility, to ensure that this hospital meets the specific demands of the Greater Durban Community.

Gateway Private Hospital aims to meet the demand for high-end, specialised surgical disciplines. The hospital will incorporate an integrated cardiac unit, a neurosurgical unit, a spinal and orthopaedic unit as well as vascular and pulmonology units.

The facility will accommodate the leading specialists in their fields with the theatres housing the latest in equipment technology.

The hospital has appointed Lake Smit and Partners as its Radiology service provider. The practice has been at the forefront of the industry in Durban for over 50 years, offering a wide range of diagnostic and interventional radiology.

“This is incredibly exciting for us,” says Dr Stuart Kidgell of Lake Smit and Partners. “Gateway Private Hospital marks our first foray north of Durban and we are committed to ensure that it is South Africa’s most technologically advanced Radiology department.

Pathology services have been secured from Ampath and Lancet Laboratories.

Hillcrest Private Hospital and Gateway Private Hospital are both managed by Ross Healthcare, a division of the property solutions company J.T. Ross.
